FM215 ON SALE TODAY

Future Music is proud to unveil yet another stormer of an issue – FM July (215) which hits your lucky shelves today (11th June). Synth-sage Kris Menace hits the pages of FM for an in-depth interview while taking you through his monster hit Discopolis on the DVD. Electro enigmas Fischerspooner tell all about how Reason is the only thing they need to make all their tracks while King Roc takes you through his live setup.

Most importantly though, we introduce the best monitors ever made in our comprehensive ten-page monitor round up – putting the best of the best against each other in a fight to the death! En guarde! We've also thrown in plenty of tips to get your monitors sounding the best they possibly can in your room. Not to be missed.

As usual, we've got plenty of reviews of all the latest gear including the Akai APC40, Rob Papen's SubBoomBass, Arsenal R20 mic pre, Arturia Minimoog V2, Novation ReMote SL MkII, UAD SSL 4k and many more. Add to that our usual Live, Logic, Cubase tutorials, our Knowledge Base features on Compression and FM Synthesis and with 2,319 samples on the DVD – well, you'd be bonkers to miss it. Logic 9 Announced Today!(?)

The rumours are flying wildly around cyberspace today, only hours before Apple's annual WWDC event, expected to be the pedestal for the announcement of a brand new version of Logic Studio (as well as some update mobile cellular device).

We've heard lots of varied reports including that this is the most significant update to Logic yet and even that Logic Studio was just a stop-over update before the real-overhaul in Logic 9 (assuming that's what it will be called). As usual though, Apple are keeping tight-lipped. Exciting!

The event starts at 6pm GMT and you can keep up to date over with our friends at Engadget via their live text stream here.

UPDATE: No Logic 9 I'm afraid...we can only assume Apple are honing their pro apps to work with the upcoming Snow Leopard in September...boooriiing

Tweet from Max MSP

OH GOD – Richie, what have you done? Well actually this has been online since before the Cube-meister's brainwave struck. It's not about who came first though, the key here is 'potential'.

Any Max MSP users out there will know that taking an object meant for one thing and creating a wholly new creative purpose for it is only scratching the surface of what can be done – so I'm excited to see what people come up with - it's not all about 'I iz in Max MSP coding ur patch' yknow. Check out this video of a Max-based software that can send and receive sounds via a Twitter text-code – download it here.

Of course, being part of Max MSP means that it will be inevitably part of Ableton Live once Max for Live launches later this year – more creative options ahead!

Download the patch and instructions over at Sound + Design.

Mike Skinner reads Future Music

Of course Mike Skinner reads Future Music. Why wouldn't he? Likewise Britney Spears digs our Logic tips and The Chuckle Brothers can't get enough 'In The Studio's. All the stars love FM.

Need proof? Check out Mr Skinner's recent tweet:

Yup, he's right – those Focal JM Labs Twin 6 BE monitors are indeed BADASS!

That said, we suggest that he might want to check out our next issue (on sale 11th June). There may well be a new king in town...
